Creative Scotland is the public body that supports the arts, screen and creative industries across all parts of Scotland on behalf of everyone who lives, works or visits here.
Winner of the 2019 BBC Radio 2 Horizon Award, and 2016 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk award Brìghde Chaimbeul is one of Scotland’s most exciting young musicians. A native Gaelic speaker, her style is rooted in her indigenous language and culture, but draws inspiration from a variety of global piping traditions such as from Cape Breton, Eastern Europe and Ireland. She is an official showcasing artist at WOMEX 2020.
Yorkston/Thorne/Khan are an experimental group that includes James Yorkston, one of the most “influential singer/songwriters on the Scottish folk scene”, Suhail Yusuf Khan, award winning sarangi player and classical singer from New Delhi, and Jon Thorne, best known as jazz double bass player with electro outfit Lamb. They are official showcasing artists at WOMEX 2020.
POSTCARDS FROM SCOTLAND
An ambitious new project from Showcase Scotland Expo, postcards from Scotland links with key festivals around the globe offering high-level performance footage from 18 Scottish artists interspersed with beautiful scenery from around the country.
GLOBAL MUSIC MATCH
Created in a world first collaboration between founding partners Sounds Australia, Showcase Scotland Expo and East Coast Music Association (ECMA), along with export organisations and showcase events from around the world, Global Music Match is a pilot initiative created to continue raising the profile of local artists in international music markets within the challenging parameters of the COVID 19 pandemic. Here are some of the highlights from the Scottish artists involved in the project.
